Case Study 1

Wendy came to Take Shape “overweight and unhappy”.  She had been on every diet imaginable and had had gym memberships but never really got the results.  She has a busy life working hard and found it difficult to get time to exercise especially when she was not getting the results she wanted.  After an initial consultation Wendy and her trainer identified some realistic weight loss goals and worked out a plan.  The plan included transforming her diet, building extra activity into her week, a home exercise programme and coming to Take Shape for an hours personal training twice a week for 12 weeks.  Wendy reached her weight loss goals and went as far as saying,  “Take Shape transformed the way I feel.  I have gained confidence and feel much healthier and happier.  The only problem is I’ve had to go out and buy a new set of clothes!”.

Case Study 2

Bill played sport in his younger days but has been doing less and less as he got older.  Unfortunately this has meant the weight has piled on and his doctor has now told him he needs to ‘lose weight and get some exercise’.  The thought of getting back into football seemed a bit vigorous for him so his only other option was to join a gym but that was also a daunting thought.  Bill came to Take Shape and explained his concerns.   After the free consultation Bill and his trainer decided that he would want more one-to-one training at the start of his programme and less as he got more confident and fitter.  Bill used Take Shape to teach him the basics of gym training coming twice a week for five weeks and now keeps come back to Take Shape every four weeks for updates to his programme and to check he is still on track.  “I have lost two stone over the last three months, my doctor is happy, my wife is happy and I feel fantastic” enthuses Bill.

Case Study 3

Mary found she was doing less and less exercise feeling lethargic and losing tone especially around her middle. As she had never been to a gym before Mary wanted to make sure that she received the right training for her age and various ailments. She had been recommended Take Shape by a friend.   After an initial free consultation with her trainer, Mary was impressed with the friendly and professional approach and also the clean, spacious and un-intimidating studio.  Mary and her trainer decided on a six month programme that included one personal training a week, a full health appraisal, consultation with her doctor, a full nutritional appraisal and personal food plan, a weekly exercise plan do on her own (including swimming once a week a daily home exercises) and lots of support and encouragement.  “I am very pleased with what I am achieving, I feel I have much more energy, I am definitely toning up around the middle but most of all I am really enjoying it” says Mary.

Case Study 4

Jeremy worked hard and found it difficult to fit exercise into his work and home lifestyle.  He had exercised before and knew all the benefits, he even had an exercise bike at home which he thought was somewhere in the back of the garage.  When Jeremy met up with a trainer at Take Shape for his free consultation, he went through all the reasons why he had trouble finding time to exercise.  His trainer asked him what he thought he could realistically achieve in a week.  “Well I could probably come in before work, maybe twice a week but it would have to be early, although not every week because I’m travelling a lot, plus we walk occasionally at weekends, we could increase that.” “Great” replied his trainer, “We’ll get into twice at week at 6.30am, when you are in the country and talk further about weekend activity with the family.  Is there anything you can do when you are away?”  “Well most of the hotels have gyms, perhaps if you could give me a simple half hour programme I could do that.”  Because there are no membership fees Jeremy does not get penalised for the time he is away.
