Golf Club X was approached by Take Shape. As one of the newest clubs in the area and with an innovative approach, both parties felt that Take Shape could help the club attract more members and provide vital resources for existing members to improve their game and prevent injury. To gain an idea of how the members would respond to the package, Take Shape first agreed to stage two presentations at the club. A fixed price was agreed between Take Shape and Golf Club X for these and it was up to the club how much they charged its members to attend the presentation, thus providing revenue for the club. The presentations went down well, members were interested in improving their fitness although two common barriers repeatedly arose – time and money. Once the members realised that there were packages to cater for everyone’s budget and that many of the programmes were short and could be done at home, the enthusiasm increased. At this stage, Take Shape teamed up with the club’s professional, who was more than happy to provide joint packages for the members that included personal training sessions and professional lessons. He could clearly see the benefits of teaching fitter golfers – ultimately they would respond better to what he was telling them and they would not get injured. Take Shape have an ongoing relationship with Golf Club X in which presentations and workshops are provided every six months and the performance packages with the golf professional are available to all year round to members – these have proved extremely successful. |
