Take Shape Personal Health & Fitness was set-up by Ollie Martin at Brewerstreet Dairy in 2002.  It provides safe, effective and enjoyable health and fitness training and education.  Its clients include people of all ages, sexes and shapes who want to achieve better health.  Take Shape prides itself on its high quality and personal service.

 

Ollie Martin BSc (Hons)

CHEK Practitioner (CP1, HLC2)

ollie_pic4.jpgAs a CHEK Practitioner, Ollie has trained with arguably the world’s foremost authority on human performance and holistic health.  He has over 15 years experience in the health & fitness industry including working with elite athletes, chronic pain sufferers and a wide variety in-between.

The CHEK approach is not a standard approach, instead it draws from many disciplines including the latest scientific and medical research and from more ‘holistic’ disciplines.  This enables Ollie to give you a truly personal, evidence backed and results driven solution to your unique health and/or performance needs.  

Be prepared to feel fantastic if you are willing to commit to the process.  But, don’t worry, the process is not all hard work!  It will also be fun, exhilarating and rewarding.

Jon Rayner BSc (Hons) 

Head Trainer 

jon_web.jpg Jon is a Sport Science graduate who is well established as a Personal Trainer with nearly 10 years experience in the local area dealing with a wide range of clients of all ages and abilities.  His career has involved working with full-time professional athletes from a wide range of disciplines to those who are absolute beginners and have never set foot in a gym before.  Although primarily focused on individuals he has lectured on many aspects of fitness from injury prevention and conditioning to pre-event nutrition to sports clubs and colleges.

This wide variety of experiences means he is capable of designing and implementing an all encompassing program that is entirely specific to meeting his clients specific personal fitness needs.

His clients are offered guidance on nutrition, lifestyle, sports injuries and their rehabilitation. Throughout his career he has worked closely alongside many different clinical practitioners establishing close links and forming reciprocal referrals with them for injury rehabilitation.

With a background in running and team field sports he has the enthusiasm and dedication to helping clients reach and maintain their fitness goals, whatever they may be.  His enthusiasm leads to varying and enjoyable sessions which will by no means be purely gym based, also taking in his love of running, cycling and the outdoors!

 

Martin McFadden BSc (Hons)

Personal Trainer & Pilates Instructor

martin_web.jpgMartin is a highly qualified personal trainer and pilates instructor.  He has a sports science degree and advanced personal training and pilates qualifications from The Training Room.

Martin Started his career in the industry as a professional footballer for AFC Bournemouth. He then went to the University of Portsmouth and obtained a BSc (Hons) Sports Science (2:1). This experience qualifications give him a firm understanding of the biomechanical and physiological demands placed on the body during motion.

Further study with the Training Room led to him becoming an advanced Level 3 Personal Trainer and a member of the Register of Exercise Professionals. Martin also gained certified status as an OCR level 3 Pilates Instructor, OCR level 2 Exercise to Music Instructor and is a qualified Spinning instructor. He is also fully first-aid trained, an FA level 1 Football coach and is fully insured.

Ben Jones Dip PT

Personal Trainer

ben_photo3.jpgBen interest in sport started from an early age representing his county at swimming before focusing his attention purely on football.  He currently plays for Oxted and District FC and has also taken on the role of head fitness coach, responsible for training the clubs four adult teams.

Working within the leisure industry since 2003 he achieved certification as a Level 3 Personal Trainer through Premier Training in 2007.

Through working closely with his clients Ben has gained experience training in gym, home and outdoor environments.  Also offering nutritional guidance it is his goal to provide a complete service to his clients facilitating change in their eating habits and everyday lifestyle choices.

Through working with Ben, you can learn new and exciting techniques to lose weight, tone up, feel fitter and enjoy training your body to achieve the best possible results available.  His methods have enabled him to realise the full potential of both top level sports people and novice exercisers.
 

Juliet Nicolson DipPT

Personal Trainer & CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach 

juliet.jpgFollowing a long interest in health and fitness - which led her to participate in such diverse activities as compete in a body building competition, climb Cotopaxi the world’s highest active volcano and participate in a 6 woman 12 hour overnight relay race in Saudi Arabia - Juliet decided to turn a passion into a career.

She is a Level 3 Personal Trainer having trained with the European Institute of Fitness, graduating with a Diploma in Personal Training, Certificate in Weight Management, Certificate in Rehabilitation and Exercise Referral, Certificate in Strength and Sports Conditioning and First Aid.  She is also a CHEK Holistic Lifestyle Coach (Level 1). Juliet is fully insured and a member of REPs and the National Register of Personal Trainers.

Juliet works with all ages and abilities but has a particular interest in those people who, for whatever reason, have not been exercising regularly but now want to take charge of their health and fitness and regain their energy and vitality.

 

Chris McFadden

Sports Injury Therapist

chris_pic2.jpgChris became a full member of the Society of Sports Therapists in 1997. Coming from a background in football and bodybuilding, Sports Therapy became a career change and Chris worked at a multi-disciplinary clinic in Surbiton for 7 years before setting up his own private practice in Sutton, Surrey where he has been since 2003.

Chris is trained in the assessment and treatment of all sports injuries affecting the ankle, knee, hip, wrist, elbow and shoulder. The majority of injuries, however, that Chris treats are back and neck strains associated with trauma or, in many cases, poor posture or technique sitting in front of a computer or strains from gardening or lifting.

Although Chris is trained in the use of Electrotherapy, ultrasound etc, he prefers a hands on approach. Massage, muscle energy techniques, myofacial stretching, rehabilitation, peripheral and spinal joint mobilisation are all part of his treatment skills. Chris has also been involved with teaching sports therapy aswell as working as an examiner and moderator for his society.

Chris works closely with Ollie, Martin and Jon and can be contacted through Take Shape gym.
